If you don’t know why you’re posting to Instagram  - it’s time to dig deep. Your Instagram is essential for attracting the right audience and should be a reflection of you and your brand. Think about it this way - if you don’t know your ‘why’, neither will your audience or future customers. This translates into everything, for example: if you don’t know why you’re posting to Instagram, your followers won’t see the point or value in following you. Since you only have a few seconds to make a lasting first impression when a new visitor lands on your profile it’s important you make it count.

The purpose of this post is to teach you, as a social influencer, how to effectively brand yourself on Instagram by optimizing your Instagram profile to convert new visitors into followers.

#1 Blend your personal with professional account.

This means creating a hybrid personality between your personal and  professional brand. This will ultimately help your audience resonate with you. Allow your Instagram profile to show off your personality - add emojis - but also show that you are serious about what you’re doing: whether you’re a beauty blogger, DIY mama, or entrepreneur.

This means keeping your user name simple. Remember you want your profile to be easy, and memorable for followers to find you.

#3 Your Name and Bio are everything

Your name, different from your username, unlocks  huge potential for your reach and overall visibility. Use this as an opportunity to use targeted keywords that your followers would search on Instagram. These can be anything from your niche, to products that you offer.

You bio, is where you can optimize your profile. This is your opportunity to explain who you are, what you do and how. Remember you have a limited amount of space to make a great impression - let your followers know exactly what you do. Lastly, it’s extremely important that you inform your followers how you will help or inspire them. Don’t shy away from emojis especially if they appropriately add personality to your page!

Just like how you are a living breathing and ever evolving being, so should your bio be! Allow your bio to change as you do, as your brand evolves and as your business changes. You only have a few seconds to make a great first impression, do your bio right and make sure your potential audience hits “follow”!

#4 Add a call-to-action in your bio

The last part of your bio is where you can place a call-to-action or CTA. Since Instagram only allows for one link per profile, the best strategy to drive traffic to your link is to create a short + sweet CTA that directs them to click your link.

Pro Tip - use both text and emojis to drive your audience's eyes to your link. Remember you only have 150 characters!

Remember getting clear and refining your Instagram bio will effectively communicate your why to your audience. In this quick second you want to captivate their attention and compel your future audience to follow you.
